The successful candidate will be part of the Presona team that visions a world where recycling just works. At Presona we supply and manufacture our own range of recycling equipment from fully automatic balers to chain conveyors, all supplied to leading retailers across the UK and Ireland.

The Job

The role of the apprentice will be to learn and carry out all the skills and competencies associated with the job role of the Maintenance Technician.

As an integral aspect of an Advanced/Modern Apprenticeship, successful applicants will develop skills and competencies encompassing both routine and non-routine maintenance tasks on equipment, ensuring efficiency and safety while adhering to precise quality specifications. This training aims to uphold elevated standards of quality and customer focused efficiencies.

The apprentice will ultimately report to the Head Engineer or to their allocated Field Service Engineer whilst on site for technical information relating to the maintenance of the equipment.

In addition, the role will require attendance at college in order to gain the relevant qualifications.

Main Responsibilities:

• Learn and be trained to undertake the same responsibilities as the Maintenance Engineer
• Contribute to a high quality of Customer Service, demonstrating our core values at all times
• Work with trained personnel in appropriate tasks to develop your skillset
• Comply with all of the Company’s policies and procedures, with specific reference to the Health & Safety Policy (Safety at Work Act 1974) and code of conduct, at all times
• Contributing as a valuable member of the team
• Coordinate with your college mentor to align with learning program objectives and goals
• Undertake supervised work both at customer sites and in workshops, engaging in diverse engineering tasks that may extend beyond the scope of your apprenticeship but provide valuable learning opportunities
• Undertake training to obtain a recognised qualification, including completing assignments on time, and attending all college sessions/tutorials (if applicable)
• Demonstrate initiative to carry out tasks to your capabilities

If you have the drive to succeed and attain a qualification in Maintenance and Operations Engineering along the way, then you are the right person.

Additional Information

Renumeration:

Apprentices are entitled to the apprentice rate if they’re either:
• aged under 19
• aged 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship

Example - An apprentice aged 21 in the first year of their apprenticeship is entitled to a minimum hourly rate of £6.40.

Apprentices are entitled to the minimum wage for their age if they both:
• are aged 19 or over
• have completed the first year of their apprenticeship

Example - An apprentice aged 21 who has completed the first year of their apprenticeship is entitled to a minimum hourly rate of £11.44.

*Please note that rates will increase in accordance with the government guidelines.

Additional Information:

This position is an apprenticeship and as long as you stick to the course program and complete the required units, you will achieve a Level 3 BTEC diploma in Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician.
This course requires that you attend college for 1 day a week for 2 years and also complete a Level 3 work-based competency Qualification (NVQ).
